Geneva English School (GES) Primary Campus, in Genthod
Any visitor to Geneva English School is immediately struck by its special and distinctive spirit and character. The smiles on the faces of the students, their zest for life, and their genuine enthusiasm for learning reflect a positive and encouraging atmosphere in which children are known and supported as individuals.
At Geneva English School, we offer a personalised approach to education to foster a lifelong love of learning. Across Pre-school, Primary and Secondary, our students achieve outstanding results. We support and challenge each student by providing a robust curriculum and a strong emphasis on academic excellence, student wellbeing, and the development of confident and inquisitive learners.
GES may be English in name, but our school community is as diverse as the Geneva area we serve, with over 60 nationalities and more than 40 languages spoken. All lessons are taught in English, with an immersive French experience in Pre-school. French is formally taught in small, level-specific groups all the way through Primary and Secondary.
When we ask parents what makes GES special, they speak first of its strong community and the happy environment in which their children learn and thrive which result in a strong sense of belonging and pride in the school. You will find this in classrooms, the playground and also very prominently on any sports fields GES teams are competing.
The location and environment of GES Primary is a strength and inspiration to everyone.
We are blessed with the most stunning site: an exceptional 4-hectare estate with a magnificent historic building, overlooking Lake Geneva. It is a wonderful and inspiring place for children to learn, play and grow.
When Mont Blanc is in full view, the atmosphere in the school seems to lift another notch higher.
The GES community is diverse and international – and we look for ways to celebrate this diversity. Families and children come from a range of backgrounds and bring a wonderfully rich mixture of cultures, languages and experiences to the school. We encourage our children to be very accepting of each other and of differences in culture or character.
GES was founded by parents and has always had parents at the heart of its structure. New families are made to feel welcome and are encouraged to be involved in the life of the school. Parent class representatives help to bind the community together and our Planning Team organise events such as the Christmas and Summer Fairs that are hugely popular and exemplify the spirit of GES.
A strong extra-curricular programme enables to spark and develop the students’ interests beyond the curriculum.
We provide an extensive range of activities at lunchtime and after school. Most of them are run by our enthusiastic staff members at no cost, and a few paid activities such as street dance, ballet, judo, playball or golf are taught by external teachers.
As the children progress through primary, we provide an increasing number of activities that cater for different interests and talents.
