Geneva English School (GES) Secondary Campus, in Versoix
Any visitor to Geneva English School is immediately struck by its special and distinctive spirit and character. The smiles on the faces of the students, their zest for life, and their genuine enthusiasm for learning reflect a positive and encouraging atmosphere in which children are known and supported as individuals.
At Geneva English School, we offer a personalised approach to education to foster a lifelong love of learning. Across Pre-school, Primary and Secondary, our students achieve outstanding results. We support and challenge each student by providing a robust curriculum and a strong emphasis on academic excellence, student wellbeing, and the development of confident and inquisitive learners.
GES may be English in name, but our school community is as diverse as the Geneva area we serve, with over 60 nationalities and more than 40 languages spoken. All lessons are taught in English, with an immersive French experience in Pre-school. French is formally taught in small, level-specific groups all the way through Primary and Secondary.
GES provides an outstanding British education, in a calm and modern environment, small enough for every teacher to know every student, so that academic success is achieved by all.
GES Secondary opened in September 2016. We wanted to take the warm and academically successful ethos of the primary and add a more grown up, academically focussed curriculum to our offer.
Our school is housed in fabulous, cutting edge facilities about a 30 minute walk from the primary. The calm, studious and friendly environment is unique in the area and allows our students to thrive. Each of our students is issued with an iPad to help them with their studies in school and we use google classroom and g suite to ensure that students remain connected in and out of the classroom.
Education at GES Secondary is happening both in and out of the classroom.
We pride ourselves on our excellent outdoor education programme with almost all of our students working towards the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award and attending camps, trips and visits across Switzerland.
The GES community is diverse and international – and we look for ways to celebrate this diversity. Families and children come from a range of backgrounds and bring a wonderfully rich mixture of cultures, languages and experiences to the school. We encourage our children to be very accepting of each other and of differences in culture or character.
GES was founded by parents and has always had parents at the heart of its structure. New families are made to feel welcome and are encouraged to be involved in the life of the school. Parent class representatives help to bind the community together and our Planning Team organise events such as the Christmas and Summer Fairs that are hugely popular and exemplify the spirit of GES.
A strong and diverse extra-curricular programme has always been a hallmark at GES. Activities help equip children with a range of important skills and attributes such as commitment, creativity and craftsmanship.
We offer a wide range of inspiring extra-curricular clubs and societies to spark and develop our students’ interests beyond the curriculum. Our passionate team of teachers run clubs at lunchtime and after school.

GES students follow the English National Curriculum beginning in Pre-school, and throughout their Primary and Secondary education. This rigorous curriculum provides students access to high quality learning opportunities tailored to their developmental needs.
As they progress through the school, our learners receive a broad education through a wide range of General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE) subjects in Years 10 and 11. In their final two years, students study three or four A-Levels, enabling them to specialise in their areas of interest and strength. With our bespoke support and guidance, our graduates go on to top universities worldwide.
Our academic record is outstanding. The coherence of the curriculum and the consistency of our teaching approach from Early Years all the way through to Senior school is reflected in our exceptional examination results.
The year 2025 echoes the success of previous years with a 98% GCSE pass rate, with 66% top grades 9-7 (vs 22% UK-wide), and a 99% A Level pass rate, with 51% top grades A*-A (vs 28% UK-wide).
