In this post, we feature Ipso! Haus des Lernens – Basel.

With beaming faces, lively conversations, and many touching moments, the graduation of the first “ADHD Coach” training course was celebrated at Eulerhof in Basel.

After six intensive months, nearly 30 graduates received their certificates – including numerous teachers from the ipso! Private School Haus des Lernens. This is a very special step for the ADHD school: All teachers can now support children and adolescents in their daily school life in an even more targeted and holistic way as certified ADHD coaches.

The course, which initially began in November, is being implemented in close collaboration with François Matthey, ADHwaS. Over six in-person days and through regular online sessions, participants could dive deeply into topics such as coaching, neurobiology, emotion regulation, ADHD, autism, and various forms of therapy and support.

The training program is far more than just the transfer of knowledge. People from a wide variety of professional and personal backgrounds come together: teachers, coaches, experts in education and social work, as well as individuals with personal experience of ADHD. It is precisely this diverse exchange that makes the course particularly valuable.

François Matthey looks back on the first course with satisfaction: “It started in November and went very well overall.”

The time spent together was also formative for the participants. Felix, a course participant and teacher at ipso! Haus des Lernens, explains: “It was valuable that we were able to benefit from François Matthey’s wealth of experience and learn a great deal – not only for ourselves but especially for the school setting.”

At the graduation ceremony, therefore, the focus was not only on the presentation of certificates but above all on personal exchange. In small groups, experiences were shared, insights reflected upon, and glimpses into the course content provided.

After the official ceremony, the evening concluded with a cozy reception. There was laughter, discussion, and further reflection – all driven by a shared commitment: to support people with ADHD with empathy, competence, and a holistic approach.

The first “ADHD Coach” course was thus not only a successful conclusion but, above all, a promising beginning. We look forward to many more courses and continued successful collaboration between Haus des Lernens and ADHD Expert François Matthey.

At ipso! Haus des Lernens, we understand learning as a holistic process. Our focus is not only on academic performance, but on the overall development of the child – especially for neurodivergent learners. Social, emotional, and personal development are at the heart of our daily work.

A central focus of the school is building relationships, as the school believes that a trust-based relationship between teachers and students is the basis for successful learning.

ipso! Haus des Lernens relies on modern learning methods tailored to individual needs. Project work promotes not only creative thinking, but also the ability to work in a team. Here, students learn to find solutions together and take responsibility.

A good ADHD school recognizes: children learn differently. Especially in the case of ADHD, ADD and other forms of neurodivergence, an environment is needed that does not overwhelm, but promotes in a targeted manner.

This is precisely where our school for ADHD and neurodivergent children in Switzerland comes in – with individual learning concepts, clear structures and a great understanding of the needs of each learner.

The demand for autism / ADHD schools in Basel and the rest of Switzerland is steadily increasing. Many parents experience that classic school models do not work sufficiently for neurodivergent children. Ipso! Haus des Lernes ADHD school therefore offers:

  • Small classes – for targeted learning with ADHD

  • Structured, stimulus-reduced learning environments

  • Individual learning plans for children with ADHD

  • Clear processes, movement, and a positive learning culture

  • Average class size: From 5 to 16

  • Number of students: 60

  • Special Education Needs (SEN) Programs: Yes, for ADHD and Neurodiversity

  • Memberships: Association Swiss Private Schools, Authorized by the Education Department of the Canton of Basel-Stadt.
